Kathy Bowler (Malawi, Africa)

Every child holds endless potential in tiny hands...

Kathy Bowler is the founder and director of Children of Blessing Trust (COBT), which helps kids with physical and mental challenges in Lilongwe, Malawi (East Africa). Along with her husband Steve and her two daughters Amy and Alisa, she works not only to improve the quality of life for children who are too often put to the side in a country with so many other pressing needs, but to give them a voice and advocate on their behalf as well.

(Doing good is a family affair: Steve works with Visionledd Canada as their African coordinator for HIV/AIDS, helping churches build their capacity to respond to the HIV/AIDS pandemic which has devastated so much of African society.)

COBT runs a rehabilitation centre for kids Monday to Fridays, which has over 450 registered clients and sees approximately 180 children each week, with many of them and their parents walking 3-5 hours to reach it.  They also offer an epilepsy clinic which provides more than 125 children and adults the chance to see a doctor and get their epilepsy medication.  COBT also works holistically within the community, providing education and training to parents and guardians, elders, pastors and other community leaders.

Future projects in development include a mobile outreach service, so that the clinic can go TO the children, and an integrated preschool, so that these kids can have a great start to their  education.  But to get there, more money and personnel are needed - please pray and       consider giving directly as well...!  Find out more about Kathy at www.paoc.org/missions/missionaries
