Nadine Feser (Tanzania, Africa)
Making a difference halfway around the world...
Nadine is an International Aid Worker in Tanzania, East Africa, working as the Artistic Director at Pamoja Ministries , a group that works to effect cultural transformation through dynamic media and the arts (check out www.pamojaministries.or.tz). She loves to write and run and sing and interact with people. Fittingly, her job involves doing all of those things: sometimes with the beautiful Maasai people, to produce a documentary or photobook, and other times this is done while shooting a musical in a foreign language.
En-kata, A Time for Singing is a window on a world rarely seen - that of the nomadic Maasai tribe. We’ve all heard about the very real problems facing Africa, but in this book you’ll also see the beauty of Africa – the faith of Africa – the future of Africa. 60% of the profits from the book are being used to fund a Maasai school in one of the most remote areas of Simanjiro, Tanzania. For the first time, these children will have access to quality education, at a school run by the Maasai themselves.
Nipe Jibu (“Answer Me”) is a Swahili musical about an orphan girl living in a dream world. Torn between a grandma who wants to please the spirits of the ancestors and friends who encourage her to decide for herself, Ndoto becomes more and more wrapped up in fear as her friendships slip away. Will she marry the rich old man in the village, to please the ancestors and make grandma rich? Or will she risk losing everything to follow a spirit her friends say is more powerful? This movie is about defeating the fear of the spirits of the ancestors with a more powerful spirit - the spirit of Jesus Christ!
