Enter our Lent Contest!

Sunday, January 31, 2010, 12:00 PM - Sunday, April 04, 2010, 12:00 PM

Lent (literally, "spring") is the time of the year when traditionally, Christians have taken time to work on their relationship with God.  How?  By getting rid of something for 40 days (not a bad thing, not a good thing - something that's just sort of a distraction, like chocolate or newspapers or whatever) and using the time that gets freed up to spend more time with God and/or pursuing activities that help a person grow with God (reading the Bible, listening to music, praying, etc.)  If there's any benefit that comes from the giving up of whatever it was, then the final element is to give that savings away to someone less fortunate.  So, if you save money during the 40 days of Lent by not eating out on your lunch hours at work, and take that time to do some Bible reading, then you could give that money to say, the Salvation Army or something.  It's whatever you want - it won't make God love you more or less, but when it's done with the right attitude, it definitely makes Him smile.

So here's our contest.  Send an email to us at  and tell us what you're giving up for Lent.  Then, at the end of Lent, just before Easter, we'll draw one email and award that person a gift card for $50.  (You have to be 18 or over to win.)  The rest is up to you!
